How
to Force a Product Update.
IMVUs Client works
by downloading product files to your computer and then rendering
them from those downloaded flies. To speed up the time for products
to show if you have used an item before IMVU will render from
the previously downloaded files instead of re-downloading a
new copy every time you use something.
What this means as
a developer is that if you update a file on the IMVU server
you will still be seeing the old copy on your computer until
you erase that file so it has to download the file again.
Clearing Cache in
your IMVU client files is the way to purge these older files
from your system.
If you do this after resubmitting a product you have used in
the client before you will see your updates in just a few moments
vs in IMVU’s sweet time.
Automatic Method
I personally use
and recommend Hellstrong's
Cache Cleaner. It is a program he created that will
remove all your client's product files in one easy click. update
group
IMVU's Embedded
Cache Cleaner is located in the clients help menu.
This one works intermittently and currently does not clear product
images so you will sill have to do those manually.
When logged into
the client close the 3D window then in the client window click
Help, Tools, Clear IMVU Cache. (you'll also have to get dressed
again)
Manual Method
With the manual method
you will just brouse for the product number and delete it. This
will force your client to download a fresh copy with the changes.
This method is great if you dont want to have to download all
your files again.
Where are the files?
By default these will be hidden files so you will not see them
if your computer is still set to not show hidden files. Use
your computers help to see how to unhide files on your system.
Do this when logged
out of the client or you will get an fatal error.
